I am not good at blogging.
I am not good at blogging.
There's been a new addition to the household. His name is Monk. :)
He's super cute and very sweet. :) He's Emily's kitty but I'm sure he'll have me wrapped around his four extra... fingers.
Wheeee! I won a prize for this one.
So it's been a while since I've updated this thing. I haven't felt much like updating lately. I've actually had to go back through my photos to see what I've been up to this year, things kind of blend together.
Lets see, I spent New Year's Eve with my friend Lily and her family. They tried to teach me how to play Canasta. I say tried because I'm not very good at it and they're pretty ruthless! It was fun though.
I've been to two Dr Theopolis shows this year, both were good times. One at Sabala's in January and one on the day before St. Patty's.
Actually I feel as though I've been out dancing more times this year than I have for the last five years combined. :P Part of that has to do with Bollywood night at the Fez on the last Saturday of the month and then another Bollywood night at the Holocene on the first Saturday of each month. I've been going out to those with Debbie. It's crazy amounts of fun and an excellent workout! This last weekend DJ Tigerstyle was there and it rocked crazy hard. :)
Lets seeee.. The annual company holiday party was good times. There was a Mardi Gras theme...
Oh yeah, that was fun. :)
My sister came up to Portland to visit, we went to a number of galleries on First Thursday in March. We went to OMSI too. :) Super fun. :D
I was attacked by a giant rubber anaconda... Well, perhaps I was the one doing the attacking but sadly I lost the battle. We also did a little dancing at the Amazong Voyage stage...
Heh heh heh. So much fun. :)
I've taken a number of photos of flowers this year though unfortunately I haven't had any great sunny weekend days that I've been able to get out and take good pics. Lots of working, some vacationing. I'm currently reading the last book of the Lemony Snicket's "Series of Unfortunate Events." I've enjoyed reading them quite a bit. :)
Ok, It's pretty busy at work today so I need to stop doing the non-work related stuff and get some things done. I shall leave you with this one last little video.
Yay for ... snow angels?
So I've been informed that I'm a slacker and I need to make a post. So, here goes.
I've started knitting. It's good times. I should be knitting right now. I have yet to finish a project.. I have three going concurrently. Good times. At least I'm easy to buy Christmas gifts for, give me a ball of yarn and I'm happy as a kitten though less entangled and more productive. (Sort of.. with the productivity... since I have yet to actually finish a project.)
I just recently finished reading Eragon. I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to reading Eldest. Though not technically perfect or anything, he tells a good story... Even if some elements may seem a bit familiar.
Last night I went to a Dr Theopolis show. It was awesometastic as per the usual. It's been way too long since I've been to one of their shows. It's always such an awesome time. There was much booty shaking and rocking out. I had been hoping to go for a run after work last night but there was a pretty big storm going on with high winds. 30mph winds and projected 60mph gusts in Portland. I decided to pass on that which is good because there was much leaping about like a crazed person so there was a quite good workout involved there somewhere. I would have been so wiped if I'd gone running first.
The guys were having a beard growing contest which was highly amusing. There were at least three not too shabby beards and some that needed some work. Jules is starting to look like a wild mountain man while Gus was sporting just enough beard to look like he could work at Stumptown! (http://stumptowncoffee.com/) If you're in Portland, I highly recommend their shows. :) http://drtheopolis.com/ also http://www.myspace.com/drtheopolis
Last weekend I went to a six year olds' birthday party. It was pretty fun. :) How can you not have fun with a cobra eating a dead mouse!? I know! You can't! I'll attach a pic later. I don't have it here at the moment. Yeah, the Reptile Man was a featured event of the celebration. (http://richardritchey.tripod.com/)
This is very cool. I feel inspired. :)If you haven't seen it already I recommend watching it, then hugging someone! :D This is in Sydney actually, right near where one of my friends used to work when she lived there.
In other news, I went to the dentist to get some tooth pain checked on and it turns out that I need another root canal. I can't wait.. :| At least my dentist rules.
I'd just like to say.. vote by mail ROCKS! Oh yes! Also, Oregon is ridiculously soggy. And.. Since it's been a while since I've posted.. Some pictures.
My Halloween costume:
Ghouling it up in a corn maze(maize!):
A totally awesome pic of a bee that's native to Oregon:
Spreading hay over the spot where the alpacas had been pooing after raking up the poo into piles for my roommate to vacuum up with a giant poo-vac. The hay helps to start the process of the soil and grass underneath the area to rejuvenate and regrow more quickly.
Aaaand, holy moly that's an adorable baby alpaca! *swoon*
They're cute beyond reason! :)
So I have my car back now and that's exciting. It's nice having the option to drive places even though I'm trying to avoid it just because I'm trying to reduce my dependence on my car. I did pretty well without it during the time that it was gone so I know I can definitely cut down. I rode my bike to work today, it's gorgeous weather for it so it wasn't hard. The true test is when it's raining, can I still do it?
This last weekend I went to Seattle to see the Cherry Poppin' Daddies show with Keith. A good time was had by all. We went to the Science Fiction Museum too, always an excellent time. Also, sushi.. Mmmm. I already want more sushi. Mmmm... So the Daddies show ruled. I should post some pics. I took quite a lot of them.
So Sunday night after I got back my mom called. My grandfather is in the hospital and not doing well. She flew out there yesterday afternoon. I know she got there okay but I haven't heard from her since. My brother said she got there okay and all. Sucky.
Update: My dad called me at about 6:30pm this evening to tell me that my grandfather passed away this morning around 10:30am PST.
